Bollywood has been enjoying an immensely gainful year in 2013. With films like Chennai Express recording Bollywood’s highest grossing figure till date and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani faring well despite being a non-holiday release, the most intriguing examples of 100 crore business this year have been Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Grand Masti which did the required brilliant business without star value backing it. Now, Krrish 3 created a newer box office record as the film went on to become one of the fastest joiners of the distinguished 100 crore club.
Krrish 3 saw a minimal hindrance in its growth being released during a full blown holiday but the film in 4 days made a summative moolah of over 100 crores. Chennai Express which so far safely holds the record of the fastest 100 crore raking film managed to reach the club in 3 an half days i.e. including the collections from its paid previews.
The hullabaloo around the 100 crore mark has often been said to be needless but in terms of Bollywood’s monetary position these films have proved to be crucial. Amongst the upcoming releases, there are two ventures with solid scope of entering the club namely Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ramleela and YRF’s Dhoom:3.
The former being a Bhansali product market by lavish sets and passionate storytelling, the film also stars Deepika Padukone who has been soaring high on success this year with all her 3 film which released in 2013 making it to the 100 crore club. Her chemistry with Ranveer Singh is much awaited and the buzz for the film is substantial.
The latter is a slick film whose trailer itself created an insurmountable buzz. As Perfectionist actor Aamir Khan dons the role of the cool thief in Dhoom:3, the film is perhaps amongst the year’s most anticipated film undoubtedly. Made on a heavy budget, the polished stunts teamed with the heavy fan following for the franchise is reason enough for people to believe Dhoom:3 might compete with Krrish 3 and Chennai Express to become one of the fastest members of the eminent 100 crore club. Though surpassing Chennai Express will be a task for Dhoom:3 that will see a normal Friday release, the Christmas stretch might prove to be extremely fruitful for the film.
