After pre-Eid [Wednesday] and Eid [Thursday], it was entry into a regular day [Friday] for Sultan. Yes, in some parts of the country it was a holiday even on Friday while many have even taken an off day to bring on an extended weekend. This meant that while Sultan didn’t quite have a holiday advantage as per on Friday, it still was better than a regular Friday release. All of that meant that another bountiful day came the film’s way with over 31.5 crore more coming in which is more than what Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan [27.25 crore] and Kick [26.52] brought on their Day One. This brought the film in the vicinity of 105.34 crore.
The film is doing great guns and is turning out to be record ventures for all involved with it. As you read this, Salman Khan has now scored 10 centuries, which is phenomenal by all means. Moreover, this is also 10 consecutive centuries, what with Dabangg followed by Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Jai Ho, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and now Sultan.
Anushka Sharma has now scored a century each with Salman Khan [Sultan], Shahrukh Khan [Jab Tak Hai Jaan] and Aamir Khan [P.K.]. Ali Abbas Zafar has entered the 100 crore club in style after Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Gunday, which by the way were commercially successful as well. He is now in a serious big league.
Yash Raj Films, after a few disappointments like Fan, Kill Dil, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy and Daawat-e-Ishq, has wiped away some major deficit with Sultan. Moreover, Sultan is now their fourth century after Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Dhoom 3.
It is time for celebrations galore and rest assured, there are quite a few fireworks waiting to explode on Saturday and Sunday.
