The episode on Tuesday features beloved Port Charles residents coming together to honor not just the 62nd anniversary of General Hospital but also for the opening of the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Center. This is to honor Dr. Monica Quartermaine, an iconic character of the soap opera. The role had a flourishing history with lots of ups and downs and memories.

Leslie Charleson, who played the role, passed away in January and this is the daytime drama’s way of honoring her legacy and giving a tribute to her. This was in the works even when she was alive but the fact that it will air when she is no longer a part of this world, makes it not just more touching but also more emotional for long-time fans of Leslie and General Hospital.
Apart from the anniversary being celebrated and the beloved character as well as actress being honored, the episode will feature highlights of the hit show over the years. The opening of the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Center will also consist of Genie Francis, giving quite an emotional and heart wrenching speech at the event as her character of Laura Collins.
