Lindsay Lohan stepped back into one of her most familiar roles with Freakier Friday, a continuation of the 2003 hit that paired her with Jamie Lee Curtis as the unforgettable Coleman mother and daughter. This time, the story expands, pulling Anna’s daughter Harper, played by Julia Butters, and soon-to-be stepdaughter Lily, portrayed by Sophia Hammons, into the accidental body-swapping adventure.

The story continues the Coleman family saga with a fresh round of comic situations born from the magical switch. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, the film has already received a Certified Fresh score of 74% on Rotten Tomatoes and marks the fifth entry in the Freaky Friday series, though the first to tell a new story rather than revisit Mary Rodgers’s original novel.

Freakier Friday Digital & Physical Release Update

Walt Disney Studios officially announced that Freakier Friday will be available to buy digitally on October 7. However, according to Screenrant, the film is now set to release online on October 7 across major platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. A physical release will follow on November 11, with 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions available. Disney is also bundling it with the 2003 film, offering a two-movie collection for fans who want both chapters together.

Bonus Features & Deleted Scenes In Freakier Friday Home Editions

The home release comes loaded with extras. The deleted scenes include moments such as Trevor’s new song, Anna canceling her wedding, a pickleball team announcement, and Eric reading Tess’s books.

Other cuts include Malibu, an extended dance lesson, and a tense exchange where Blake is not pleased with what she hears. Viewers will also find behind-the-scenes featurettes. One revisits the cast taking on each other’s mannerisms and filming stunts, while another has both returning and new actors recalling where they were during the original film’s release. A playful short reveals hidden nods to the 2003 movie, and there is also a lyric music video for “Baby,” combining clips from the movie with production footage.

The digital debut comes only days after October 3, widely recognized by fans of Mean Girls, another Lindsay Lohan classic. In a playful nod, Anna and her fiancé Eric set that date for their wedding in the sequel. While the release narrowly misses the fan-favorite day, its October 7 arrival places it between two quiet weekends with no major comedy competition. The next big comedy, Aziz Ansari’s Good Fortune, is scheduled for October 17, giving Freakier Friday breathing room as counterprogramming.
