Zootopia 2 is performing exceptionally well at the box office in China, having almost reached the $10 million mark in pre-sales. It is one of the most anticipated Hollywood films of all time in China and may even surpass F9’s pre-sales collection, setting a new record. Keep scrolling for the deets.

The film began its pre-sales in China this Monday, and it kicked off brilliantly. As of now, it might even surpass F9’s pre-sales collection, becoming the biggest pre-sales post-COVID for Hollywood. The film received positive reactions from the critics upon its world premiere earlier this month. The fans are eager to watch the movie on the big screens.

Inches closer to hitting $10 million in pre-sales in China

Pre-sales in China are progressing strongly, according to a report by trade analyst Luiz Fernando. The film finished its second day of pre-sales, bringing the cumulative total to $7.1 million. It is for the period from November 25 to 30; there are still 7 more days to go. According to the report, it is already the biggest pre-sales of 2025 for Hollywood animation in China. Soon, it will also cross the $10 million mark.

2-day pre-sales breakdown of the film in China

  • November 27, Thursday, day 2 – $575k

Beats Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s 2-day pre-sales tally

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was released in China this past weekend, and it also achieved outstanding pre-sales numbers in the country. Zootopia sequel has outgrossed Infinity Castle’s two-day pre-sales cume of $7 million. This means that at the end of day 2, Infinity Castle’s pre-sales collection in China was $7 million, whereas Zootopia 2’s was $7.1 million.

The Zootopia sequel is aiming to earn over $30 million in pre-sales, which could beat F9’s numbers. If it happens, then the Disney animation will register the biggest pre-sales post-COVID for Hollywood. It could beat Avatar 2‘s $57.1 million and Godzilla vs Kong’s $69.2 million as the 2nd biggest opening weekend for Hollywood films post-COVID. Zootopia 2 is set to be released worldwide on November 26.
