Leo is in riot mode, and it won’t be slowing down anytime soon at the box office. Starring Thalapathy Vijay in a titular role, the film has been on an epic journey right from its opening day, and the momentum will go on for at least a couple of weeks. In the latest update, the 200 crore net mark has been left behind with a solid Monday punch. Keep reading to know how the biggie fared on day 5!
Released on 19th October, the action thriller opened to mixed reviews from critics. However, word-of-mouth has been decent from the ticket-buying audience. Of course, due to the high violence quotient, the family audience has been limited so far, but still, youths have compensated for it by showing huge footfalls.
Leo‘s smashing start of 66 crores net and all the hype surrounding it, along with favorable audience feedback, made it clear that a record-breaking is in front of us, and that’s what exactly is happening. In the 5 days alone, the film has gone past the 200 crores net mark at the Indian box office and is on its way to emerging as a historic success in the history of Tamil cinema.
Before we talk about Monday’s collection, let us inform you that as per revised numbers, Leo had earned 194.07 crores net at the Indian box office till Sunday.
Coming back to day 5 (Monday), as per early trends, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has shown a solid hold by raking in 30.51 crores net. It’s strong momentum after making 45.39 crores on Sunday, which reflects that the film has been accepted by the audience. Out of all, it’s the Tamil version driving the major business, followed by Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions.
On the 5th day, Leo entered the 200 crore club at the Indian box office as its grand total now stands at a whopping 224.58 crores net (all languages). This is commendable, and today, being a Dussehra holiday, the film will again show a jump, and the collection of over 35 crores is expected.
In the lifetime run, it’ll be interesting to see if this Thalapathy Vijay starrer beats Jailer‘s 345 crores to become the second highest net grosser in the history of Tamil cinema after 2.0’s 408 crores.
