Operation Safed Sagar Teaser Review: Jimmy Sheirgill Promises “Itihaas Bana Denge Ya Ban Jaayenge” & I Think Netflix Might Finally Break The Vayu Sena Jinx!

The one subject Bollywood has been struggling with for years, but has not gotten right, is a brave army film on the Air Force. While Fighter and Sky Force tried to bring a good story, they somehow did not land that well! But it seems like this void might be filled with Jimmy Sheirgill and Siddharth’s upcoming web series Operation Safed Sagar.

As soon as Netflix dropped the first look of this series, I was stunned by the goodness of it! Starring Jimmy Sheirgill, Siddharth, Abhay Verma, Mihir Ahuja, and Taaruk Raina, the war drama rooted in the Kargil conflict looks like an attempt to redefine the genre. ,

The 55-second glimpse of Operation Safed Sagar promises an untold, gritty saga of the Indian Air Force’s pivotal mission, and frankly, it has left me with high hopes.

The casting of this show seems to be very clever. Siddharth, known for his earnest intensity ,anchors the mission with that powerful line, “No squadron in the history of the Indian Air Force has ever done such a mission.” You believe he is the leader; meanwhile, Jimmy Shergill, who always manages to elevate an ensemble, delivers a motivational briefing that hits hard. He has a commanding screen presence, and watching him lead a group of young, talented actors is exciting.

The younger lot – Abhay Verma, who has been killing it since Ae Watan Mere Watan, Mihir Ahuja from The Archies & Sarzameen and Taaruk Raina from Mismatched, look like they belong to those soldiers’ uniforms! The sentiments for Operation Safed Sagar are right, and the core motivational dialogues seem lifted straight from the War Drama Rulebook. This genre is now so saturated that unless the series offers genuinely nuanced writing, it risks falling into the predictable, non-impressive jingoistic trap!
