Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog 3 unleashed multiple achievements this weekend, the biggest one being surpassing the $400 million mark. It has also surpassed Will Smith starrer Bad Boys 4 to become the #13 highest-grossing film of the past year. Scroll below for the deets.
The 2024 release also surpassed its predecessor, Sonic 2, as the highest-grossing installment in the franchise. The second installment, also directed by Jeff Fowler, was released in 2022. en Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, and Jim Carrey reprised their roles, and it was a box-office success.
Based on Box Office Mojo’s data, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 collected $190.87 million at the US box office and $405.42 million worldwide. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 surpassed that number during its fourth weekend overseas. According to Luiz Fernando’s report, it crossed the $200 million mark overseas after grossing a solid $15.2 million this week. The movie hits a $203.5 million cume over 62 markets.
Adding that to its $218.89 million domestic cume, Sonic 3 stands at a $422.39 million worldwide cume. It has surpassed Bad Boys 4’s $404.54 million as the 13th highest-grossing movie of 2024. It is behind Beetlejuice Beetlejuice‘s $451.1 million global haul and might be able to surpass that in its lifetime run as it is expected to earn between $520 and $570 million. The movie had an estimated budget of $122 million, which has raked in over 246% more than that.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has also emerged as the highest-grossing installment in the franchise, surpassing Sonic 2’s $405.4 million global haul. Here’s how much the Sonic movies have earned worldwide.
