Aamir Khan starrer Secret Superstar is on its way to make its mark on the world with its worldwide box office run . After ruling India, Taiwan and China, the movie is now being showered by love from its audience in Hong Kong. After over a week of preview screenings, the film opened to a flood of positive reviews, from both the audience as well as critics.

The movie continues its good pace, maintaining its steady collections through the weekdays at the Hong Kong box office. On Tuesday, the film earned HK $382,501, similar to its performance on Monday of HK $326,436. So far, the film has managed to earn a total sum of HK $6,059,989 including the revenue it generated from its preview screenings. What is even more impressive is that the film has collected this sum despite only being released in 118 locations throughout Hong Kong.

Aamir Khan’s consecutive successes at the worldwide box office has definitely opened up new opportunities for Indian filmmakers. In an interview with South China Morning Post, the PK actor talked about his growing popularity in the Oriental countries. “I believe 3 Idiots was the first film that travelled – here in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China – and became very popular,” he said. “In fact, 3 Idiots became popular in China, I believe, through pirated websites, because it was not released there [at first]. A lot of young people watched the film and it went wild. So it was something that the Chinese audience picked up on their own.”

“They saw 3 Idiots, wanted to see my other films, and they went online to search for my other films.” he continues. “After that, there were Dhoom 3 and PK. All these films became popular online – before they were even released in theatres … I’m very happy that they like my work so much,” he added.
