Subhash Ghai took the time to share the compelling news of the sequel on his social media. He revealed that Aitraaz features a script that has been worked on for the last three years. Further, Ghai applauded Priyanka Chopra for her groundbreaking performance in the first installment and described her role as unforgettable.
The question now arises: will Priyanka Chopra return for the sequel? Recently, in an interview with DNA at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Subhash Ghai revealed that Priyanka will not be featured in Aitraaz 2. Instead, he plans to cast a new-generation actor to bring a fresh touch to the film with a renewed storyline.
He said, “Aitraaz ko bane 20 saal ho gaye. Toh hume aaj ke contemporary artiste, new generation ke actors ke saath banani padegi,” said Ghai. (It’s been 20 years since Aitraaz was released, so we must make it with today’s contemporary artists and new-generation actors.)”

Aitraaz (2004) was released on November 12, 2004, and received positive reviews from audiences. Abbas Mustan directed the film with producer Subhash Ghai under the Mukta Arts banner. Alongside this trio (Priyanka, Kareena, and Akshay), the film stars Amrish Puri, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Vivek Shauq in pivotal roles. For those unaware, Aitraaz was loosely based on the 1994 American erotic thriller Disclosure.
