Arshad Warsi Calls Munna Bhai’s Circuit, “Villain Ke Peeche Chaar Paanch Lukhhe Khade Hote Hain Naa,” Here’s What Vidhu Vinod Chopra Told Him Loud & Clear Before Signing The Film!

Arshad Warsi has been relevant in the industry for the past 2 decades. The actor was recently seen judging the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 11 and is now gearing up for a few other projects. However, in a recent interview, he talked about his most iconic character, Circuit.

It was a fresh innings for Arshad in the comedy films when he was cast as Circuit in Rajkumar Hirani’s Munna Bhai. Arshad played Sanjay Dutt’s second fiddle in the film. However, he was not supposed to play the parallel lead.

During one of his interviews on the show Long Drive, Arshad Warsi talked about how Circuit changed the course of his career, but the character was not supposed to be this important. Arshad even confessed that when Vidhu Vinod Chopra called him to offer the film, he explained the character very clearly.

Arshad was, in fact, told very straightforwardly that he would only be one of the guys who would walk behind Sanjay. Talking to Mr Faisu, the actor said, “It (Circuit) could have also taken a wrong turn. Tum dekho, woh role kya tha? Villain ke peeche chaar paanch lukhhe khade hote hai na, un mese mai ek tha. You tell me, how many actors like those four guys do you remember?”

However, Arshad was given full freedom from Rajkumar Hirani‘s side, and he carved out a character worthy of standing beside the lead with his comic timing. He further explained, “It was a risk that I took. It was my destiny to have Raju with me as a director and Sanju as my co-actor. Vinod Chopra had clearly told me that I would be one of the four goons with slightly extra lines. He was very honest. I knew that Sanju was a very secure actor. He was never insecure, and Raju had given me that freedom.”

Arshad Warsi has shared a great equation with Sanjay Dutt ever since Munna Bhai. The duo had a crackling chemistry in the two films of the franchise – Munna Bhai MBBS & Lage Raho Munnabhai. They were supposed to star together in Munna Bhai 3, but the film never happened.

Audiences still hope for their reunion in the third part of the franchise, but Rajkumar Hirani and his team have not found the right story yet.
