The grand finale of Bigg Boss 18 took place on Sunday (January 19) wherein the host Salman Khan handed over the winning trophy to Karanveer Mehra. Until the very end, some polls and rumored voting trends were pointing out towards Vivian Dsena and Rajat Dalal to be the winner. However, Karanveer’s victory surprised many people and sent his fans into a euphoria. Here are 3 reasons why the actor’s victory can be hailed as a historic win in all its glory.

Winning Against Cult Fanbases

Despite Karanveer Mehra winning Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 before participating in Bigg Boss 18, the actor did not come with a humongous fanbase and built an organic fanbase with his stint on the show. His rivals like Rajat Dalal and Vivian Dsena, though strong contestants equally, had the support of some cult fanbases a few days before the finale. While Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav left no stone unturned to support his friend in the voting process, Bigg Boss 16 and Bigg Boss 17 winners, MC Stan and Munawar Faruqui asked their cult fans to vote for Dsena. However, Mehra still emerged as the winner proving that no one can replace the OG Bigg Boss audience who connects with a contestant because of their performance on the show.

An Underdog

Karanveer Mehra was an underdog on Bigg Boss 18, and many contestants were seen targeting him incessantly. The Pari Hoon Main actor was still trying to find his footing for the first 6 weeks of the show but, after that, revamped his game. This led to him becoming one of the most fierce competitors for his arch rivals.
