John Abraham’s The Diplomat is all set to premiere on TV after its theatrical run and OTT release. The film, which revolves around a thrilling extraction mission, is based on a true story. It stars John Abraham as J.P. Singh, an Indian diplomat in Pakistan. J.P. Singh and Sadia Khateeb, as Uzma Ahmed, an Indian woman who seeks refuge at the Indian embassy while trying to escape from her husband, who, she claims, forced her into marriage.

The Diplomat will air on Sony Max on June 29, 2025, at 1 PM. The television premiere will allow TV viewers to catch the high-octane action thriller from the comfort of their homes. Sony MAX took to Instagram to make the announcement by writing, “India ka ek diplomat banega ek dusre mulk mei phasi ladki ka maseeha! What Is The Diplomat About?
The movie is set in the stunning yet hauntingly conflicted valleys of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Among the countless women who are kidnapped and tortured is India’s Uzma, who is lured into a false marriage, only to find herself imprisoned, assaulted, and desperate to escape.
The plot follows J.P. Singh’s efforts to navigate complex international diplomacy and secure Uzma’s safe return to India, facing ethical dilemmas and suspicion from Pakistani authorities. It also highlights the world of diplomacy, which operates behind closed doors and away from roaring headlines.
The film, directed by Shivam Nair, explains how sometimes the biggest diplomatic battles are fought not with weapons, but with words, strategy, and silence. It also emphasizes how strategy and human resolve outweigh typical action.
What Did John Abraham Say About Playing J.P. Singh In The Diplomat?
Ahead of the film’s premiere on Sony MAX, actor John Abraham shares his experience of portraying the character of J.P. Singh. “Playing the role of a diplomat was an amazing experience. I connected with the real life of a diplomat because I enjoy this space. I have done this in Madras Cafe, Batla House and Parmanu. The Diplomat really put me back in that space, and I was enjoying every moment of it.”
He further added, “I am politically aware, so I understand what is happening in the world. I think the film will educate the audience who are not politically aware about what is happening around.”
