Chiyaan Vikram this year had only one release, Thangalaan, that had a disastrous run at the box office, earning 71.45 crore worldwide. The film arrived on Netflix unceremoniously on December 10. However, it had a lukewarm response on OTT as well.

In the debut week of its OTT run, the Tamil action drama as per Netflix’s data from December 9 to December 15, garnered a viewership of 1.5 million.This is one of the least viewed South Indian films in its debut week on Netflix.
This debut week’s viewership was much lower than the best week registered by Lucky Baskhar, which garnered 5.1 million views. Chiyaan Vikram garnered 70%lesser views in its debut week.
Thangalaan on Netflixhas registered the second least viewed debut week for a South Indian film. The least-viewed title still rests with Ravi Teja‘s Mr Bachchan that garnered 1 million views after a disastrous theatrical run.

Rated 6.8 on IMDb and helmed by Pa Ranjith, the film stars Chiyaan Vikram in five roles along with Parvathi and Malvika Mohanan. The official synopsis of the film says, “Based on the true events that revolve around the lives of mine workers in the Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka.”
