The famous figure in the media world, Oprah Winfrey once faced a marked challenge that nearly destroyed her plans. Early on, when she became a philanthropist and talk show icon, she had a tough time finding her spot in television. But what appeared to be a setback actually opened the door to her future win.

At just 22, Oprah found her first job as a co-anchor at WJZ-TV in Baltimore. This was a priceless moment for her, as she was the first African American woman to take on such a position.

But seemed like a big achievement quickly turned into a hurdle. When asked in an interview on The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations, Bloomberg TV about her job as an anchorwoman at WTZ-TV, she answered: “Yeah, I got fired.”
