Dhanush has been receiving positive responses from the audience for his performance in Kuberaa. However, according to a speculative report by Gulte, the role was initially offered to Vijay Deverakonda, who turned it down. You might be wondering why; here’s what we know.
The role in question is that of a beggar. Vijay Deverakonda was initially approached because Kuberaa director Sekhar Kammula wanted a star with mass appeal. However, Vijay was under the impression that the audience might not receive him well in such a role, and he wasn’t willing to risk alienating his core fan base. But with Dhanush, the director got exactly what he was looking for.
As reported earlier, Kuberaa was made on a budget exceeding INR 100 crores and, within just 14 days, earned a gross collection of INR 99.85 crores in the domestic Indian market. This translates to a net amount of INR 84.62 crores, placing it among the top-performing Tollywood films of 2025.
