Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s marriage has always been surrounded by controversies. The two stars do not shy away from putting their personal lives on display via various interviews and their individual memoirs. While they are currently making headlines for their secret separation and Jada’s bombshell revelations about their lives, Will once revealed to what extent he had gone to keep his now estranged wife happy and gave away blockbuster movies so that she would not leave him.
Despite knowing each other for years, Will and Jada did not hit it off till the latter auditioned for a role in Fresh Pince of Bel-Air. While the MIB actor was then married to Sheree Zampino, the two got divorced in 1995. In 1997, Will married Jada and the two later welcomed their children: Jaden and Willow.
Throughout his picturesque career, Will Smith has given many blockbusters, including the MIB series, I, Robot, Hitch and more. The actor is among the most prominent stars in Hollywood. However, he once revealed how he thought if he would be good enough, no girl would leave him. As per Showbiz Cheatsheet, the actor talked about one of his failed relationships during a press junket for his movie I Am Legend.
During the press conference, the King Richard star recalled how his girlfriend cheated on him when he was 15. He added that the incident destroyed his concept of “cause and effect in the universe,” as he believed good things happen to good people and bad things happen to bad people. Will Smith continued to reveal how he tried to process the break of his trust and thought he was not good enough. He said, “I remember laying in my bed, making a decision that I would not be good enough again, that that was the last time in my life that I would ever not be good enough.”
Will Smith added how he then thought that if he was good enough, nobody would cheat on him. He implied the same ideology in his marriage and tried to give out blockbusters and be a good dad to keep Jada Pinkett Smith from leaving him.
The Pursuit of Happyness star said, “Jada has to have that look.” “I can’t function if she doesn’t have that look in her eyes. So that means with my movies, that means as a father, that means as a husband and everything that I do in my life, I have to educate myself to the place that I can contend as the best on Earth. And that’s the only way to keep my woman from leaving me.”
Jada Pinkett Smith recently revealed that she and Will Smith have been secretly separated since 2016. She also clarified that she did not cheat on Will while addressing her entanglement with August Alsina, as they were separated at that time.
