Kirsten Dunst, aka the OG MJ of Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man trilogy, has revealed she is not a big fan of the Marvel movies. The actress recently sat for an interview and opened up about quite a few things related to the web-slinging superhero movies. Scroll below for more.
Dunst played Mary Jane Watson in the Sam Raimi directorials. The first film, led by Tobey, was released in 2002. After Tobey, Andrew Garfield donned the superhero suit but had only two movies in his franchise. In 2016, the fans got yet another Peter Parker; this time, it was in the MCU-Sony shared universe. Tom Holland is currently playing the superhero and is set to appear in his fourth solo film.
Recently, in an interview with Variety, Kirsten Dunst revealed she did not see any of the Spider-Man movies that were released after her and Tobey Maguire’s movies. Dunst continued that she has also not seen any of the Marvel movies. The actress explained, “It’s just not my thing.” She added, “But I did see Paw Patrol.”
In 2021, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield appeared in Tom Holland’s movie Spider-Man: No Way Home. Kirsten Dunst’s MJ was mentioned in the film, but the actress revealed that she had not been asked to appear. But given the chance, she would love to reprise her role opposite Maguire.
Kirsten Dunst also shared her idea for the fourth Spider-Man film. She explained, “It would be funny to be like, OK, let’s take Tobey [Maguire] and I and do it in a weird indie way where it’s like a different kind of superhero film. Like how they did that movie Chronicle. It could be cool.”
