It’s been four long years since Daniel Craig’s No Time to Die hit the theaters. Diehard fans have been waiting with bated breath for the next James Bond to take over the silver screen after Craig retired from the role in the last film. It will be a daunting task to find a suitable replacement for the 57-year-old, who had been the face of the franchise for five films spanning 15 years, starting with Casino Royale. Until now, several popular names have been considered frontrunners for the role, including Henry Cavill, Tom Holland, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, Jonathan Bailey, Nicholas Hoult, and James Norton.
However, another name has taken over the buzz in the last few days, that of English actor Callum Turner, who gained global recognition through the Fantastic Beasts film series. So, the question is: Is Callum Turner really playing the lead in the next James Bond film? Here’s a quick fact check.

Is Callum Turner Confirmed As The Next 007?
While the name of the 35-year-old English actor has been circulating as the next 007, the truth is that there has been no official update from the makers regarding the final casting call for the lead role. So, why is there suddenly so much buzz around Turner as James Bond?
The main reason is that the Dutch gossip magazine Privé reported that Turner has been selected for the role (via IGN Nordic). But Privé has been wrong in the past about similar reports.
A UK-based betting site, Coral, also revealed that there has been a significant surge in bets on Callum Turner playing the new James Bond, with his odds shifting from 5-2 to 7-4. This makes the British actor the new red-hot favourite. He has even reportedly overtaken other top contenders, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, and Henry Cavill.
While the odds currently favor Callum Turner as the next James Bond, nothing is officially confirmed at the moment. One thing going for the 35-year-old is that he is an Englishman like Bond, which makes him a good fit from a cultural standpoint. However, it’s best to wait for an official announcement from the Bond producers before drawing any conclusions.
Callum Turner’s Filmography
Besides being a part of the Fantastic Beasts films, Callum Turner showcased his acting chops in the period romantic drama The Last Letter from Your Lover (2021), George Clooney’s sports drama The Boys in the Boat (2023), and the fantasy rom-com Eternity (2025). He has also featured in the mystery thriller series The Capture (2019) and the Apple TV+ war drama Masters of the Air (2024).

Next James Bond Film’s Director & Writer
Previously, it was reported that Dune director Denis Villeneuve has been enlisted to direct the upcoming 007 venture. Moreover, British filmmaker and creator of the BBC’s cult period crime drama Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, is set to write the screenplay for the 26th James Bond movie, which Amazon Studios and MGM will produce. With such a talented writer-director combination, it looks like the franchise is headed in the right direction!
