The new week begins with rough signs for several older releases still playing in theatres, and Regretting You is among the ones feeling the pressure. The big screen adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel, led by Mason Thames, has dropped its per-screen box office average to two digits for the first time since its release, and this comes only days after the film reached its budget-even point and became an official box office hit.

Regretting You Latest Box Office Excerpt: Lowest Per Screen Average Since Release

The movie now stands at above $82.4 million worldwide. It has been one of the most unexpected box office stories of the year, where many believed the film would fail during its early days, yet it slowly grew and rose to become the third highest-grossing romance drama of the year. Even with several new titles entering the market, Regretting You still sits in 2,709 theatres, but its per-screen average slipped to only $88 on Monday. This marks the lowest daily average for the film since its October 24 release.

Last Friday and Saturday were strong for the movie, each day bringing in well over $1 million. On Sunday, it kept steady and collected more than $870K, but Monday delivered a completely different outcome. The film suffered a steep 72.5% drop from Sunday, earning about $239K, earning around $88 per theater, and standing far below the previous Monday, which brought in around $811K, meaning a 70.5% decline week to week, per Box Office Mojo.
