Angel Studios’ David is doing well despite the odds and those tentpole movies. The faith-based animation has crossed a key milestone at the box office in eleven days. It is the second animation released by Angel Studios and became the highest-grossing faith-based animated theatrical opening of all time, besting Angel Studios’ own The King of Kings. It delivered the best 3-day theatrical opening in Angel history, surpassing Sound of Freedom’s $19.6 million debut, and became the highest-grossing faith-based animated opening of all time, beating The King of Kings and The Prince of Egypt.

Crosses $50 million at the domestic box office

According to Box Office Mojo’s data, David collected a solid $2.8 million on its second Monday at the box office in North America. It registered the 2nd biggest second Monday ever for faith animations, with a decline of just 20.5% from last Monday. Despite releasing with Avatar: Fire and Ash, it has retained its audience and is garnering ample attention at the box office for its impressive collection. David has crossed the $50 million milestone in North America, and its domestic total is $52.4 million.

What’s next for David?

According to the industry tracker’s report, David is expected to earn between $70 million and $80 million at the domestic box office during its theatrical run. It is therefore on track to beat The King of Kings at the box office. For the unversed, The King of Kings was also released in 2025, and it collected $60.3 million in its theatrical run. The second Angel Studios animation is now less than $10 million away from surpassing The King of Kings.

Besides North America, David has also been released overseas in limited regions. It has been released in Portugal and South Africa/Nigeria. The international total of the film is $114k, and adding that to its domestic total, the worldwide collection reaches $52.5 million.
