Just like a fortnight ago when half a dozen films came together on a single Friday, the story is being repeated this week again with five films vying for attention. Unlike the earlier releases though, where just a couple of them seemed interesting, the story is better (and hence complicated too) this week, what with four films exciting enough to varied extent. These are ‘Tamanchey‘, ‘Spark‘, ‘Ekkees Topon Ki Salaami‘ and ‘Jigariyaa‘.
All these four films are mid-budget affairs and belong to diverse genres. ‘Tamanchey‘ is being projected as a fun romantic-action-musical entertainer and rides on the power of some popular music, courtesy ‘Pyaar Mein Dil Pe‘ turning out to be a chartbuster all over again. The promo has been well cut too while the overall marketing and promotion has been adequate. The casting (Nikhil Dwivedi, Richa Chadha) seems apt for the genre and if the content is up to the mark, this one has in it to do well till ‘Happy New Year‘ arrives.
‘Ekkees Topon Ki Salaami‘ is a drama-comedy and features Anupam Kher and Divyendu Sharma (Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Chashme Baddoor) who are known for their comic timing. Though the film isn’t an out and out comedy, its promo promises some good moments indeed. Ditto for ‘Spark‘ which is catering at an out and out mass entry and hence would predominantly find a single screen release. The film marks the arrival of ‘Khatron Ki Khiladi‘ Rajniesh Duggall in an action avatar after a few back to back horror/supernatural affairs.
‘Jigariyaa‘ is in the ‘Tanu Weds Manu‘ and ‘Issaq‘ space and though former was a hit and latter a major flop, one can’t dismiss the look and the theme that this all-newcomer film carries. It also boasts of some good music which surprisingly hasn’t been promoted much. Though it appears to be a decent affair, lack of visibility would play a role in its theatrical run.
As for fifth release of the week, ‘Dhund Lenge Manzil Hum‘, absolutely nothing is known about it and there are no expectations either from whatever little publicity material that has been unveiled so far.
