As per police reports, Priyanshu and his friend Dhruv Lal Bahadur Sahu allegedly went to an empty building in Jaripatka for a booze session on Tuesday evening. The two friends fought after Priyanshu allegedly threatened Dhruv, police added. Dhruv retaliated by gagging Priyanshu using wires and stabbing him with a sharp weapon. Priyanshu was found about 3 a.m. by locals who heard dogs barking and immediately informed the police.
Senior Inspector Arun Kshirsagar of Jaripatka Police Station said, “It was a party that spiralled out of control. Alcohol and old grudges fuelled violence.” Dhruv was taken into custody shortly after, and the police are investigating the case. About Priyanshu Kshatriya Aka Babu Chhetri
Priyanshu’s journey was remarkable. He grew up near the railway tracks in Nagpur, helping his family by selling coal. It was here that acclaimed director Nagraj Manjule spotted him and cast him in Jhund (2022). The film was based on the life of football coach Vijay Barse, who worked with children from slums.
Despite this early success, Priyanshu’s life was not without challenges. He had a history of minor criminal cases, including theft and burglary. His family said he had been trying to leave that life behind over the last two years. “Over the last two years, my brother was reforming. Suddenly, a killer took him away. He had left promising to return soon, but we had no idea he wouldn’t ever,” his sister Shilpa told The Times of India.
Priyanshu’s death brings a tragic end to a life that had just started moving toward hope and redemption.
