Stranger Things 5 has once again proved why it is Netflix’s biggest global franchise. The release of Volume 2 on Christmas Day, December 25, turned the holiday into a record-breaking moment for the streaming platform. Netflix has officially confirmed that it witnessed its highest Christmas Day viewership ever.

Netflix Hits Highest-Ever Christmas Day Viewership

According to reports from Variety, Netflix revealed that its all-time highest Christmas Day viewership was achieved this year, and Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 was one of the biggest contributors. The second volume drew 34.5 million views during the week of December 22–28. This achievement makes it the second-best performing week of the season so far.

The only week that performed better was the season’s opening week in November. When Stranger Things 5 first premiered, it pulled in 59.6 million views, which became Netflix’s biggest-ever opening week for an English-language title. This record placed the show above every other English-language series on the platform.

With holidays giving viewers more free time, audiences across the world tuned in to watch the new episodes. Many fans also revisited earlier seasons, pushing the show back into global top rankings once again.

Massive Jump In Watch Hours After Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 Release

The most shocking change came in the form of total hours watched. Before the release of Volume 2, Stranger Things 5 had logged 38.9 million hours watched in the previous week. Once Volume 2 arrived, that number jumped to an incredible 284.8 million hours watched.

This sudden rise marked a huge bump in Week 5 viewership, proving that fans were waiting specifically for the second volume. The increase was not gradual. It was sharp, immediate, and massive. This shows the strong anticipation surrounding the later episodes and how invested viewers remain in the story.

With such high numbers, Stranger Things 5 has cemented itself as one of Netflix’s biggest streaming events of all time. The final episode is yet to arrive, and the expectations for that are extremely high.
