Shark Tank India 3: Anupam Mittal Reveals He Lost All His Money Investing In A Raj & DK Project, “They Became The Top Bollywood Directors, But I Lost All The Money Here”

Shark Tank India is the reality show of entrepreneurial dreams! But some sharks have made bad investments that might have cost them Crores. Anupam Mittal has been the shark for three seasons, but he revealed shockingly about losing money because of this famous director duo. We are talking about The Family Man’s creators, Raj & DK. He admitted that the Director duo is known for churning out hit after hit, but they cost Anupam Mittal crores.
This season has seen a boost in entrepreneurs pitching some very cool and bizarre ideas. Some products pitched in Shark Tank India Season 3 have also shot up in the market. But one particular set of pitchers made Anupam Mittal nostalgic.
In the latest episode of Shark Tank India, in a new twist, Two Telegu filmmakers, Raj Madiraju and producer Umamaheshwar Ch, came on the show looking for an investment to fund their sequel. They requested an investment of Rs 2 crore for 30% of the movie, titled Krishnrama. The movie is a sequel to the 2023 film Krishnarama.
Anupam Mittal praised the producers for appearing on the show, which made him ‘nostalgic.’ He stated, “Nobody makes money in this business. Today, Raj and DK have become Bollywood’s biggest directors, amongst the top, and they pitched me a film that was exactly this. We actually made the film in the US. And they are also Telugu and Tamil. From there, we went on to make another film. Raj and DK became the top Bollywood directors, but I lost all the money here.”
He further clarified that he wasn’t scammed by Raj & DK; instead, it was a time when everybody was learning, and these things happened. When Boat founder Aman Gupta probed into the amount of loss, Mittal just said that he lost a few crores.
Anupam also gave insights into the industry’s workings, saying, “I studied about this industry a lot after that. And I understood that the existing people in the industry who have been producing films for a long time are also in heavy debt but still keep producing.”
This incident just bewildered the other Sharks, and the pitch soon turned funny.
