The movie is still astonishing with its dominating presence and keeps setting new records daily. Les Misérables is a 2012 epic period musical movie directed by Tom Hooper based on the stage musical of the same name. It features an ensemble cast led by Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen. The supporting cast includes Samantha Barks, Aaron Tveit, and Daniel Huttlestone. The movie is set in France during the early 19th century, and Anne Hathaway won the Oscar for her performance in a supporting role.

Les Misérables collected $149.26 million in the US and $293.49 million overseas. The film’s worldwide total was $442.75 million against a price tag of $61 million. It was reportedly the second highest-grossing musical adaptation of all time at the global box office. Its title has been taken away by Wicked’s latest worldwide cume.
