Marathi films have witnessed an unprecedented success in the recent times. One of the major reasons that contributed to this success is a very, very controlled budget despite having a plethora of stars, on board. We exclusively connected to superstar Swwapnil Joshi, who talked at length about the success of his recent Marathi film and discussed his upcoming project, Sushila-Sujit.
This year, Marathi Cinema has already delivered 97 feature films. Discussing the success of these films, the Navra Maza Navsacha 2 actor said, “I think I am extremely proud of being a part of that journey. Whenever you talk very humbly, I feel that I am one of the people responsible for this. It is extremely important for me to be saying it, but the numbers speak for themselves. Two of the biggest hits this year have been my films.”
Talking about his upcoming film Sushila-Sujit, Swwapnil Joshi, said, “This is a film that I am also producing and acting. So, the two films that I spoke about did very well, the one I was only producing and the other I only acted in. But now, I think for the first time, I am acting and producing the film at the same time. And then having somebody as talented as Sonali Kulkarni in the lead. I would not call it a hero-heroine film in the sense that they are not paired opposite each other. If you look at the two castings, there is a definite age gap between them. It is a slice-of-life film. Marathi Cinema explores something a normal conventional Hindi film doesn’t.”
