In an interview, Farhan Akhtar said, “Jab maine kahani pitch karna shuru ki thi, the three people I had in my mind, given the age of the characters (When I pitched the movie, I had three people in my mind, given the age of the characters). Also, for me, on some level, I was being a little bit lazy. So, in terms of accessibility, I was like, they’re my friends only. I had seen Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Hrithik was outstanding in the film.
