Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Ami Je Tomar 3.0 Song Review
Vidya Balan & Madhuri Dixit In A Glimpse From Bhulaiyaa 3 Song Ami Je Tomar 3.0! (Photo Credit – YouTube)

Trust me when I say this, if there was anything that could have lightened my Diwali this year, it was the only hope to witness Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan Ami-Je-Tomaring together in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. In fact, I was so excited about this heavenly union of the two legends of the Indian Cinema that I even chose to ignore an underwhelming trailer that was compensated by just a glimpse of these two actresses!

But some dreams should never turn into a reality. And as heartbreakingly as I realize, I do realize that anticipating this union, probably with so much excitement, could have jinxed this song that has finally been released, and oh my god – what did I just see!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is all set to battle against Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe giant Singham Again, and its biggest weapon to fight this war was Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit having a dance face-off on-screen. What could have turned into a Dola Re Dola, a Dance of Envy, or a Pinga of this decade turned into such a sham of the highest degree that the disappointment is unbelievable!

Choreographed by Chinni Prakash, the song offers a glimpse of the face-off with the mukhda of Ami Je Tomar and Madhuri Dixit kathak-ing her way to challenge Vidya Balan, tuning into the classic Bharatnatyam; she offered in part 1 as well. Now, here comes the sad part – none of it, not even an iota, seems synchronized, blended, and is so haphazard that it is unbelievable to waste two icons on something that turns out to be so frivolous!

Even sadder part is that this comes from the man who has given us Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast and Jumma Chumma De Detwo iconic songs of Indian Cinema that are used to swear to when it comes to phenomenal Hindi film dancing!

Coming to the music part, Ami Je Tomar 3.0 has been restructured and composed by Amal Malik and additional lyrics have been written by Sameer. While Shreya Ghoshal sings it this extension just rips off the soul of the original by Pritam. Even the reboot in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was bearable with Arijit Singh’s voice, but this latest version of Ami Je Tomar was something I was totally not ready for. No matter how much I love Shreya Ghoshal, it is a sin to deconstruct Ami Je Tomar and its soul! I wish Monjolika never forgave them for this. Come Monjolika; this Dushto Rajo deserves your wrath and fury!

BRB, picking the broken pieces of my heart! You can have a look at the song here! I, still hope that the film does justice. In fact, this wasn’t even the time to release this. This asset should have been kept under wraps for the film, just like the Sonu Nigam version of the song (my last living hope with Ami Je Tomar). Fingers crossed!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Box Office Review: Expectations

Released over a decade ago, Bhool Bhulaiyaa has a place in the hearts of many. Its horror element, music, comic relief, each and everything is so memorable. So, ever since the sequel was announced, there was excitement among Bollywood lovers. However, a reasonable section of the audience even felt that Kartik Aaryan replacing Akshay Kumar in a lead would ruin things and the film might end up being another troll material.

Leaving aside the mixed feelings about the sequel, BB 2 really came out solid with a decent trailer, good promotions and a chartbuster title song. On top of that, Kartik has face value among the youth audience. Reports of good advance booking further added to the buzz. So, with all these things working out, it was on the cards that the film would take a flying start at the box office.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Box Office Review: Impact

As per expectations, BB 2 has taken a good start with morning shows showing 30-35% average occupancy throughout the country. In a theatre where I watched the film, there were around 35-40 people for the 8.30 am’s show. The situation throughout the big circuits in India is similar and is about to see a boost with favourable word-of-mouth as the film is an entertaining package providing clean entertainment for the whole family.

It’s a sort of a film which will grow over the weekend and not dip after a good start. The content is perfectly suitable for A and B centres and the youth+family audience combination will work here a big time. Runway 34 had a very niche urban feel, which is why it failed despite offering good content. The same isn’t the case here with BB 2, though it won’t find many viewers in interiors.

Dhaakad, which clashed today with BB 2, doesn’t even look like a competition. Next week’s releases- Anek starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Hollywood biggie, Top Gun: Maverick starring Tom Cruise will affect Kartik Aaryan starrer a bit, but that won’t make a big dent. Until Prithviraj, Major and Vikram arrive on 3rd June, BB 2 will enjoy its glorious run.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Office Review: Final Verdict

After The Kashmir Files, Bollywood’s search for the next money-spinner has definitely ended here with Kartik Aaryan’s horror-comedy. The film is expected to score between 45-50 crores during the opening weekend and its lifetime will be in the range of 80-95 crores with a window open for 100 crore club’s entry!

What’s Bad: It also tries to forcefully scare you as well, which needed some more polish

Watch or Not?: Watch or not, you’ll anyway compare this to the original, so better watch and do the same!

In the ‘Multiverse of Manjulika’, we see one such spirit getting trapped into a ‘haveli’ in Bhawanigarh (Rajasthan), only for years later when someone from her family intervenes in the process and lets her out in the wild. But, how does this happen? The present-day story has Reet (Kiara Advani) coming back to her family after her higher studies, forcefully getting married to someone her sister likes. If you think, this is too entangling, it’s just the base of the maze that’s about to bloom.

Reet brings Ruhan (Kartik Aaryan), whom she just met, and asks him to orchestrate a circus so that her sister can happily marry the guy she was supposed to. Ruhan turns ‘Ruh baba’ convincing everyone to do things as Reet’s ‘last wish’. All of this mess brings back Manjulika from the dead completing the ‘bhool bhulaiyaa’ of Ruh baba.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Movie Review: Script Analysis

Akash Kaushik keeps the template of the story & screenplay very similar to the original despite changing almost the entire cast. Though Madhu Muttam’s story was emotionally gripping, Priyadarshan’s gloomy direction helped the original to achieve the cult status it has. This one depends majorly on its humour and plays really safe when it comes to horror.

It follows the usual cliches of ‘pulling your legs when asleep’, ‘backward feet’ etc. but they’re smartly evened with either the absurd one-liners or some wacky gags. The gags are as senseless as many other Bazmee films but they work here for the eccentricity of the characters. Manu Anand goes all murky with the treatment of horror sequences and it works in his favour to some extent.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Movie Review: Star Performance

Kartik Aaryan is wow! Walking on such a tightrope, he manages to let us forget the legendary performance of Akshay Kumar and start afresh. Despite his Ruhan being a completely different character, there are shades, definitely some inspiration from ‘Adi’ and that’s where he shines the brightest. Nope, not because his touch to the character is any less, but because of how under the high pressure of comparison he flourishes creating pure entertainment.

Tabu comes in with her usual formula of grace * 100 & the story very smartly uses the same to its advantage almost touching the magic created by Vidya Balan in the original. There’s no comparison because deep down we all know the OG will remain untouchable, but to dismiss the genuine efforts put in at the storyboard is also unfair. Kiara Advani remains the weakest of all, not owing to her acting but because of her character not allowing her to explore much. She gets her fair share of ‘Manjulika’ but it’s too little too late.

Rajpal Yadav & Sanjay Mishra hold on to the pulse of the film with some gut-busting gags. More than Farhad Samji & Aakash Kaushik’s dialogues, it’s the story behind those gags coupled with the performances that’s funnier. Rajesh Sharma & Amar Upadhyay are just about okay; one speaks too much & other is silent throughout. Siddhant Ghegadmal should have get
