The start of 2024 has been really amazing for the Malayalam film industry as it witnessed successes one after another. Speaking about the blockbusters, two films have smashed it out of the park. One is Premalu, and the other one is Manjummel Boys. Here, we’ll be talking about the former rom-com, which is enjoying a glorious run at the worldwide box office by coming closer to the mark of 90 crores gross. Keep reading to know more!
Directed by Girish A. D., the rom-com starring Naslen K. Gafoor, Mamitha Baiju, and others in key roles was released in theatres on 9th February in India. In all other parts of the globe, it was released on 15th February. Upon its arrival in theatres, the film enjoyed positive reviews from critics as well as audiences. Also, the light-hearted nature of the rom-com is driving major repeat audiences to theatres.
Premalu at the worldwide box office
Talking about the latest update, Premalu grew really well during the fourth weekend in India and maintained a steady hold yesterday, completing a run of 25 days. At the Indian box office, it currently stands at 43 crores net, which equals 50.74 crores gross. In overseas, the film has earned 35 crores gross so far. Combining both Indian and overseas gross, the total at the worldwide box office stands at 85.74 crores gross.

Budget & Indian box office returns
Even though the exact number is not known, Premalu’s budget is said to be around 9 crores. So, if the cost is removed from the Indian net collection, the ROI (return on investment) stands at 34 crores, which equals a staggering returns of 377.77%.
Premalu’s next target
The Girish A. D. directorial has definitely come down below the 1 crore mark in day-to-day collection, but as the Telugu dubbed version is arriving on 8th March, the film will definitely get a boost at the Indian box office. So, there’s still a bit of a journey to be covered.
If all goes well, the rom-com will be able to join Manjummel Boys in hitting a global century for Mollywood in 2024. Also, it’ll become the fifth Malayalam film in history to achieve the feat if the 100 crore mark is achieved.
