Timothee Chalamet-led Dune: Part Two or Dune 2 is yet to be released in China, but the pre-sales numbers are already impressive. The movie came out in other regions last Friday, and it has exceeded the box office predictions. Not only commercially, the film is being praised critically as well. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, it is the sequel to his 2021 film, Dune: Part One. Scroll below for more.

Timothee, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Austin Butler are praised for their fantastic performances. The film’s director believes these four actors are the future of cinema. Austin invoked a lot of terror in the audience with his limited screen time as the psychotic villain Feyd Rautha. Pugh was graceful as Princess Irulan and Zendaya again drew attention with her facial expressions. Timothee is undoubtedly the cherry on top, as he gives one of his most powerful performances in the sequel.

As per Box Office Mojo, Timothee Chalamet’s film Dune 2 has already earned $182.52 million at the worldwide box office and is reportedly the highest-earning film of 2024 as of now. Meanwhile, the film will open in Chinese theatres on March 8, 2024, but the pre-sales numbers have made it achieve an impressive feat. According to trade analyst Luiz Fernando, the Denis Villeneuve-helmed sequel has collected a 9-day cumulative of $2.1 million from the pre-sales for the March 8-10 opening weekend period.

It has reportedly outpaced 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer’s pre-sales cume three days before its release. Dune 2 is also expected to exceed Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania’s $2.5 million and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3′s $3 million pre-sales numbers by Wednesday as this sci-fi magnum opus still has three days before it hits the Chinese theatres.

Dune 2 is expected to collect over $20 million on the 3-day opening, especially if it leads to a final pre-sales figure of over $3 million. This would make the movie the first major Hollywood sequel in the post-COVID era to achieve this feat. If all goes well, it will allegedly earn $20-$30 million in its opening weekend.

Dune 2, starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, is currently running in theatres in other regions.
