Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania had a good start at the box office. The film on its 1st Friday opened to good numbers. Settling for a 9 crores opening day moolah, the film is set to earn well at domestic box office.

The film starring Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan stood out mainly in the north circuit. The responses in Delhi, Punjab were excellent. In Mumbai the film could not perform its best due to heavy rains. Also in Maharashtra, Riteish Deshmukh’s Marathi drama Lai Bhaari posed a threat to this rom-com.

While there was an expectation of a two digit opening number similar to the likes of Alia Bhatt’s 2 States, it seems this Dharma production could not enjoy a similar fate this time. With Ek Villain‘s bombastic opening last month, the bar of achievement has been upped for the younger stars with that film.
