Grand Masti saw one of year’s biggest openings so far with its opening weekend collections reaching 40 crores at a swift pace over the first 3 days of the film’s release. The film has now evicted from the list Deols’ laugh riot Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and last week’s YRF film Shuddh desi Romance which was received soothingly for its refreshing content. Both films had made 23 crores at the box office in its 1st weekend. But the compliment for Grand Masti would be that it gave stiff competition to films with higher star value and more potent content.

As predicted yesterday, the film has surpassed Satyagraha‘s opening weekend collection of 39 crores. However, Grand Masti marginally missed OUATIMD‘s opening weekend income of 41 crores. However, the film still ranks amongst 2013’s Top 5 Highest Opening Weekend list. Though panned by critics, the film is performing well solely for its content that has a great mass appeal.
