Trivia: Although Sonu Sood belonged from a non-filmy background, yet he aspired to become an actor from since his childhood, a dream which he eventually fulfilled.

Biography: This model turned actor belongs to Moga in Punjab. Sonu Sood comes from a family where his father is an entrepreneur and mother is a teacher and his family has no connections with the film industry. He has two sisters and studied in Sacred Heart School in Moga City.

Sonu Sood’s first brush with media happened when he participated in the Mr. India pageant. Although he did not win the competition , he became a common face in most households with his appearance in commercials like Apollo Tyres, Airtel, etc.

An engineering graduate in electronics from YCCE Nagpur, Sonu Sood made his debut performance in the film Kallazhagar which became a box office hit. His debut film for the bollywood film industry happened with Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh which won him critical acclaim.

Sonu married Sonali and has a son named Ishant.

Sonu’s career did not reach the pinnacle of success despite him featuring in a number of movies like Super, Athadu among others. The biggest push to his career was given by his performance in Arundhati  where he portrayed the role of Aghora. The movie was the biggest Telegu hit of that year and gave Sonu the much awaited credit.

2010 saw Sonu play the lead antagonist in the Hindi movie, Dabangg opposite Salman Khan. He sensationalized the character of Cheddi Singh and this remains one of his much talked about movies.

Sonu Sood’s Kannada debut movie opened to good box office responses and also won him critical acclaim. His current project is the movie Rana along with south superstar Rajnikant.
