It is the fifth film in the franchise and has earned an impressive number in the North American box office. Sydney Sweeney, who experienced an unexpected success with Anyone But You, had her horror flick Immaculate released in the theatres and has grabbed one of the top 5 positions in the domestic box office.
Paul, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Carrie Coon joined the franchise with 2021’s Afterlife. The cast reunites with the OG Ghostbusters cast in this movie, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. According to Variety, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has been released in 4345 theatres in North America. The movie earned an impressive $45.2 million in its opening weekend. It was expected to earn around $42 million but exceeded expectations. Directed by Gil Kenan, the film has earned the top spot at the domestic box office. It has made $16.4 million from 25 markets, earning $61.6 million globally.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is in first place in the box office ranking in North America, followed by Timothee Chalamet and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune 2 in the second position with $17.6 million from 3437 venues. The film has already earned a whopping $574 million and is eyeing a $700-$720 million at the global box office for its lifetime.

As for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the domestic collection is more than the prequel, Ghostbusters: Afterlife’s opening, which is $44 million. The film was released in the theatres in the US on March 22.
