The sequel picks up from where the first movie ended after Timothee’s character, Paul Atreides, meets up with Zendaya’s Chani. The film received excellent reviews from critics, and people raved about it on social media; it has received an excellent 93% score on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and a 95% Audience Score. It is also one of the top-rated movies on IMDb, with an 8.8 rating.
Dune 2 has already earned $574.35 million at the global box office and is expected to reach the $600 million milestone soon. According to trade analyst Luiz Fernando, this Timothee Chalamet-led sequel is eyeing a $700 to $720 million global run at the box office. As per the data, Denis Villeneuve’s film earned $30.7 million on its fourth weekend overseas, contrary to The Batman’s $25 million and Oppenheimer’s $30.9 million.
Dune 2 has experienced a 41% drop from last weekend for a $341 million international cume over 73 markets. The film gained $233.4 million cume in the US and hit the 574.4 million global cume. It will reportedly beat Timothee’s Wonka next weekend, which has made $629.73 million globally. Once the sequel beats last year’s musical fantasy, this will be Timothee’s highest-grossing film globally in a lead role.
Timothee Chalamet’s Dune franchise has already earned over $1 billion at the global box office. The film was released in the theatres on March 1. As per the news, Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya might return for the threequel and reprise their role as Paul Atreides and Chani. Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Fergusen, and Anya Taylor Joy shall also return for Dune 3. The script of the third film is already being written, as per reports.
