This Friday sees the release of the all-women star-cast film Crew. There was a time during pre-pandemic when a number of filmmakers were putting together female-centric films. In fact, many years ago, Bipasha Basu worked on many such films, primarily across the horror and thriller genre, and then, in the next few years, the ones who took the lead were Kangana Ranaut and then Taapsee Pannu.
The trend has slowed down during the last couple of years, and now, when Crew arrives, it has the troika of Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon in there. This is quite interesting since Tabu started her career in the 90s, Kareena came a decade later, and then Kriti came a further decade ahead, which is just the kind of perfect casting that keeps all segments of audiences excited.
Moreover, the producers here are also women, Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, who are the next-generation filmmakers from Bollywood.
