Ram Charan is back in the headlines due to his upcoming magnum opus, Game Changer. The film has faced multiple delays already, but finally, things are moving in the right direction, and the first song, Jaragandi, is already out. Today, as the actor celebrates his birthday, we’ll be taking a look at his rise at the box office. Keep reading to know more!

For those who don’t know, Ram is celebrating his 39th birthday today. So, to treat his fans, the makers decided to drop the much-awaited song. Leaving aside his upcoming biggie, the actor has come a long way and has really established himself as a ‘mega powerstar.’ He started off his acting journey in 2007, and since then, he has kept rising.

Ram Charan is already a big name in the Telugu market and has delivered several big hits over the years. However, when it comes to the Hindi market, the actor suffered a major blow right at the beginning. Yes, we’re talking about his first Bollywood film, Zanjeer, which turned out to be a box office bomb.

For those who aren’t aware, Ram Charan made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with Zanjeer, which was a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s cult classic of the same name. It was a bilingual project and was simultaneously shot in Hindi and Telugu. The film did garner some attention due to the presence of Priyanka Chopra and her ‘Pinky’ song, but it failed to attract footfalls.

Back then, Ram Charan was a kind of known face due to Magadheera, but he wasn’t popular across the entire Hindi belt. As a result, Zanjeer was a disaster from the word go, and its Hindi collection was wrapped up at just 15 crores. After the disastrous debut, the actor didn’t get to try his luck with the Hindi audience until things completely changed with RRR.

Considering the universal popularity of director SS Rajamouli, RRR was released in a pan-India fashion and was dubbed in as many as five Indian languages. The film was released in 2022 amid a huge pre-release buzz, and it managed to rake in earth-shattering numbers at the Indian box office. As expected, the Hindi version provided solid support.

Out of 772 crores, the Hindi version alone contributed 277 crores and was the second biggest contributor for RRR after the Telugu version. So, if we calculate, Ram Charan’s Hindi box office saw a rise of a staggering 1746.67% from Zanjeer to RRR.

It could be said that due to RRR, Ram Charan has got a chance to make a mark in the Hindi belt. Now, seeing if he maintains the momentum with Game Changer will be interesting.
