The problem with last few Emraan starrers was the fact that they didn’t even open well while audience reception (barring Hamari Adhuri Kahani to an extent) was generally not good. However that is not the case with this Tony D’Souza directed film as the feedback has ranged from decent to good. Moreover, many have termed his portrayal of Azhar as Emraan’s best performance till date.
When compared to last few solo starrers of Emraan (where he is the central protagonist), this is how the opening day of Azhar stands:
Raaz 3 – 10.25 crore
Jannat 2 – 8.5 crore
Ghanchakkar – 7.4 crore
Murder 2 – 7.1 crore
Azhar – 6.3 crore
Ek Thi Daayan – 6.24 crore
Raja Natwarlal – 6.1 crore
Hamari Adhuri Kahani – 5.1 crore
Mr. X – 4.5 crore
The film is expected to grow further today, though it is the extent of growth that would decide how much further would Azhar fly in the course of the week.
