The chapter of DCEU (DC Extended Universe) has been officially closed now as the last film of the universe, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, aka Aquaman 2, has ended its run at the worldwide box office. While the performance is underwhelming, the good thing is that the sequel didn’t see an outright rejection and avoided the tag of being a disaster. Keep reading to know more!

Reception of the Aquaman sequel

Directed by James Wan, the Aquaman sequel was released on 22nd December in the majority of parts of the globe. Upon its arrival, the film met with mostly negative reviews from critics, and even word-of-mouth was not in complete favor. Looking at such a reception, it felt that the biggie would become a washout amid a decline in the box office pull of superhero films.

Thankfully, it didn’t face embarrassments like previous DCEU releases and even MCU’s The Marvels, which turned out to be the lowest-grossing film for the studio. All thanks to the sequel factor and loyal fan base of Jason Momoa‘s titular character, Aquaman 2 managed to earn a respectable total globally and emerged as an average grosser.
