Twentieth Century Fox’s X-Men: First Classmay have debuted on top of the North American box-office chart but it hit a franchise low with a gross of US $55.1 million only, in its first weekend. Way back in 2000, the first X-Men movie had made $54.5 million in its debut weekend which comes to $79 million if adjusted for ticket price inflation.
Warner Bros.’ The Hangover Part IItumbled 63% to $31.4 million, falling one place in its second weekend from the top of the chart. Its total for 11 days went up to $185.8 million.
Paramount Pictures’ Kung Fu Panda 2also fell one place in its second weekend. At no. 3, the animation film added $23.9 million to its kitty to take its 11-day total to $100 million.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tidesalso fell one place, to no. 4. The Walt Disney flick collected $18 million in its third weekend to take its 17-day total to $190.2 million.
Bridesmaids rounded off the Top 5 chart with a gross of $12 million in its fourth weekend. Falling one place from the previous weekend, it took its total for 24 days to $107.2 million.
