There are some Bollywood stars whose onscreen chemistry together is just electrifying. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif‘s reel chemistry is a testament to that statement. From Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Namaste London, Welcome, Sooryavanshi and more the two have done over 7 films together. But there was a span of 10 years when the two didn’t work together.
The Namastey London stars’ onscreen duo had become the pretty hit-churning machine, mostly rom-com with an edge. Their movies started just becoming box-office hits, and all of their blockbusters were released together from 2006 to 2009, with a release each year.
However, there was a significant gap right after Tees Maar Khan was released in 2010. Fans of the Kumar-Kaif chemistry had to wait almost ten years to see the two work together in Rohit Shetty‘s Sooryavanshi in 2020.

In the meantime, rumors of rifts and other scandals made their way around B-town, but the two always maintained their friendly equation. But the question always lurked: why did Katrina and Akshay not work together?
Akshay Kumar himself answered that. Well, it was not an answer but a hint. In 2020, when Katrina and Akshay were promoting Sooryavanshi with Rohit Shetty on The Kapil Sharma Show; Kapil asked the two why they had not appeared in movies for almost ten years.
The Tiger 3 actress tried to answer the question without stirring up any controversy. She said, “Akshay was very busy; he was doing 4-5 films at one point”, to which Kumar quipped back that there were heroines in those movies too. Katrina said she was also busy, which started a round of banter between Rohit and Akshay, who were teasing Kaif.

In all fun and games, Rohit Shetty asked Kumar if he was not doing films together. Akshay made quite a revelation when he said, ‘I don’t know why, I sent 2 films to her”. Everyone just started laughing in an effort to brush off the topic. But she also praised Kumar, stating he is one of her favorite co-stars.
The Kumar Kaif Jodi fans were thrilled to see the two in Sooryavanshi together. And they got a taste of the sizzling chemistry with the rendition of Akshay’s hit song, ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani.’
Now that all is good in the hood, fans are hoping that the two will collaborate more in the future and they get to experience the Akki-Kat Magic on the screen.
