Ranveer Singh in and as Shaktimaan. That’s it, that is the news for the day. Last year, the superstar received a lot of love and admiration for his portrayal of Rocky Randhawa in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He was said to be the long-lost sibling of Poo from K3G, and the audiences loved his vibe in the film. It was rumored that post-Karan Johar’s rom-com Ranveer and Alia Bhatt will move together to Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Baiju Bawra.
However, everyone was shocked when Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his next film that starred Alia Bhatt definitely but sans Ranveer. In fact, it stars two actors – Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal and is titled Love & War. So that means the Baiju Bawra remake has been indefinitely postponed!
Now, a report by Dainik Bhaskar suggests that Ranveer Singh had even alloted his dates to the Baiju Bawra remake after he completed Don 3. But since the major change of events, he turned to his next film in a jiffy and has transferred all those dates to the superhero flick Shaktimaan, which will be a reboot of the Indian TV series led by Mukesh Khanna.
As soon as Ranveer pushed the gear for the superhero flick, details for the film started floating in Gupshup Gully, and here are five things you definitely need to know about Shaktimaan.
1. Shaktimaan Film Budget
The film will be heavy on graphics and VFX, so the budget of the film is obviously said to lie somewhere between 300 crore and 350 crore. The team does not want to compromise on this since the VFX needs to be world-class, for Ranveer plays a superhero who can travel from one place to another in less than a fraction of a second.
2. Shaktimaan’s South Indian Villain
Currently, South Indian directors and cast are in heavy demand. If reports are to be believed, then Minnal Murali actor Tovino Thomas has been approached to play the villain Tamraj Kilvish in the show. He almost confirmed this news a year ago during a live conversation with his fans about his upcoming project.
3. Tamraj Kilvish – Pre-Production Work
As soon as Ranveer Singh green-flagged the project, the team started working on the look of the characters, and they started with the villain and his weapons. Tamraj Kilvish was an iconic supervillain of Indian Television, and his weapons need to be at par with his character. Shaktimaan’s team is currently working on what Tamraj Kilvish’s weapons will look like in the film. Something as interesting as Thor’s hammer and as simple as Captain America’s shield, perhaps?!
4. Shaktimaan’s Crew
Apart from the cast, even the crew has been finalized for the film. Basil Joseph, the Malayalam director who recently made a mind-blowing Indian superhero film with Minnal Murali, has been assigned the responsibility of leading the film as the director. Writers of Minnal Murali – Arun Anirudh and Justin Matthew have been assigned the writing responsibilities. The third writer on board is Gullak fame, Durgesh Singh.
5. A Trilogy
Shaktimaan will be a trilogy. Sony Pictures was supposed to produce the film, and Mukesh Khanna had come on board as the co-producer, but things did not materialize on this end, and now Sajid Nadiadwala is producing the project.
