Producer T.P. Aggarwal has dubbed his forthcoming film, Red Alert – The War Within, in English, Telugu and Chhattisgarhi. It was never planned that way but when he saw that the film was winning rave reviews at every film festival, he felt inclined to dub it in different languages. The response from the public and the media at the International Film Festival of India, held in Goa last December, convinced Aggarwal to go ahead with the dubbing.

Recalls the excited producer, “The media went ballistic after the show at IFFI. Members of the press actually questioned us as to why we weren’t dubbing the film in other languages.” While the actors, including Naseeruddin Shah and Sunil Shetty, have themselves dubbed their dialogues in the Eng- lish version, the dubbing in Telugu and Chhattisgarhi has been done by professional dubbing artistes. All the versions of Red Alert will be released simultaneously next week.

Incidentally, it is not just the public and media in the festival circuit, which seems to have been swayed by the film directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. Even Maharashtra home minister R.R. Patil, who saw the film recently, loved it so much that he recommended it to Union home minister P. Chidambaram. The film, it may be mentioned here, deals with the Naxalite movement in India. It was shot in the jungles under the worst climatic conditions but, as Ananth says, “Anything for the authentic touch!”
