It is interesting to note that the makers of both, Luv Ka The End and Pyaar Ka Punchnama, had no qualms about letting the public know that their films were about what happens when a love affair goes wrong. While both have been honest about their films’ content, in their promotions, the similarity doesn’t end there or in the fact that the directors of the two films are debut-making directors. Both the filmmakers have made their films without stars. ‘Luv Ka The End’ stars a one-film old Shraddha Kapoor with a rank newcomer, Taaha Shah. Likewise, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ has six lead players, all of them either fresh or barely a film or two old. Unlike regular Hindi films, in which the ending is happy, with the lovers uniting after crossing all hurdles, the debut-making directors of these two films did not bite the bait of the happy ending formula. For both of them, the happy ending lay in the relationships breaking up because they were never meant to work in the first place.
