The trailer of the much-awaited film of M. S Dhoni biopic was released yesterday. A biopic on the life of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the film stars Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role.
Claiming to be an account of Dhoni’s untold story from being a Ticket Collector in Indian Railways to becoming an match-winning batsman, ace wicket keeper and an extremely successful captain for the Indian Cricket team.
The 3 minute long trailer, shows us Dhoni’s journey from being a child whose goal-keeping talents in a Football match lead him to getting trained to be a slick wicket-keeper. By his teenage, Mahi has already earned a name for itself and he is confidently seen walking on the field saying ‘Strike hum lenge, tum bas run-out mat kar dena’.
Sushant Singh Rajput, other than changing his hairstyles, according to Dhoni’s age, has captured very brilliantly, the walk of Mr. Dhoni. His body language is near perfection and if that was any less, the shots where he is seen batting, his stance, his way of lifting the bat, everything is signature to the captain. Neeraj Pandey’s hard-work to make him look authentic, have to be cheered.
Thankfully, we see very little of romance, just a glimpse of Kiara Advani and that sort of makes me want to believe that the story is on track.
It is a delight to see Anupam Kher as his middle class father and also the Tere Naam actress Bhumika Chawla whose mere simplicity lights up the frame.
Last scene from the trailer with the crowds cheering ‘Dhoni’ and Sushant’s perfectly aped Dhoni’s expression from the last six of the World Cup finals, will surely give goosebumps to fans of the Cricketer and Indian Cricket team in general.
This film could prove to be a game changer for Sushant Singh Rajput, who is still lagging behind the likes of Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh etc.
