Yash Raj Film turns 50 this year and the studio is making it grand with amazing announcements. News of YRF’s upcoming projects with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn and Vicky Kaushal are already known. Now, according to reports, the latest star to be brought on board is Hrithik Roshan for a Siddharth P Malhotra directorial.
Siddharth P Malhotra has earlier directed the studio’s Hichki starring Rani Mukerji. On the other hand, Hrithik’s last outing was YRF’s WAR also starring Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor.
As per an article in Peepingmoon.com, Hrithik Roshan will star in YRF’s next thriller, a Siddharth P Malhotra directorial. Hrithik is believed to have given his nod and will sign on the dotted line in a few weeks. This thriller is said to be based on a true event and will see Hrithik playing a whistle-blower who exposes a Godman. Vipul Mehta and Sneha Desai have written this film. The makers are currently finalizing the locations and will lock dates once Hrithik signs the paper.
The still-untitled movie film is said to be based on the 1862’s Maharaj Libel Case. This case came to light when the plaintiff, Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj (a religious leader), filed a case of libel against reformer-journalist Karsandas Mulji for writing an article in his Gujarati weekly newspaper. The article was claimed to be defamatory by the plaintiff. In it there were accusations that Jadunathji had sexual liaisons with women followers. It also said that men were expected to show their devotion by offering their wives for sex with religious leaders.
Hrithik Roshan is believed to be playing the role of the social reformer. Casting for the rest of the remaining characters are still underway. Hrithik is expected to start shooting for this film around November this year.
Talking about the recently announced film by Yash Raj Films, Shah Rukh Khan will be returning to the big screen with Siddharth Anand’s action flick Pathan. This film may star Deepika Padukone too. Next, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will reprise their roles in the action-packed third instalment of the Tiger franchise. Tiger 3 will be directed by Maneesh Sharma. Ajay Devgn will star in Shiv Rawail’s directorial debut, thus ending his dispute with Aditya Chopra. Vicky Kaushal has been roped in for Vijay Krishna Acharya’s next action-comedy.
This Hrithik Roshan starrer will be a part of YRF’s 50th anniversary special projects. Yash Raj Films plans to announce them on Yash Chopra’s birthday, September 27.
On the work front, Hrithik will also star in Krrish 4.
