Sanjay Gupta & Sanjay Dutt

Rise: The Sanjays’ friendship goes back to the good old days when Sanju baba was everyone’s big brother. Naturally, when Sanjay Gupta entered Bollywood, Dutt was his first choice. Their partnership began with a very stylish Aatish, starring Sanjay, Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor. Gupta’s movies made Dutt famous as the ‘Deadly Dutt’. In all of Gupta’s movies, Sanjay Dutt played an uber cool gangster; think Khauff, Kaante, Musafir and Dus Kahaniyaan. Not all of their films together were huge successes, but they helped build one of the coolest friendships in Bollywood. Gupta and Dutt then decided to transform their friendship into a commercial venture and ‘White Feather Films’ was born. The Dutt-Gupta saga was like any Bollywood film about friends. They used to hang out together, party together. They were like inseparable brothers. Before the downfall, that is.

Fall: The big clash happened post White Feather Films’ Shootout At Lokhandwala. Allegedly, Sanjay Gupta did not pay the salary of a certain company employee, but Dutt took the employee’s side. The undercurrent, sources claim, was Dutt’s wife Manyata who was slowly taking controls of his life. There were also rumours about how Gupta was involved with actress Sameera Reddy.

Koimoi Jodi Verdict:  A lot has been said after the split. However, fans were shocked when Sanjay Dutt accepted in a recent interview that Sanjay Gupta had “used his name”. Sanjay added, “I just think that he (Sanjay Gupta) shouldn’t have used my name too much. As a person, you have to make your own individual relationships. I have worked really hard on my relationships over the years and he was ruining them. I told him not to…” After this statement from the Munnabhai actor, we are sure that this is one Bollywood friendship-gone-wrong. One that will probably never mend again.
