TAKE: In normal parlance, you’d say “take” to somebody if you wanted to tell him to accept something from you. But the word has a completely different connotation when used on the set of a film or in a recording room. If a shot is being taken or a song or even a line of the song is being recorded, the terminology used to convey the action is, “Take chal raha hai (A take is going on).” That is to say, a ‘take’ could refer to a director or cameraman taking a shot with the camera or a sound recorder recording a piece of music or the voice of a singer or chorus singers.
