Join UsThe audio release of Robot was a magnificent event with two superstars sharing stage. Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikant came together to launch the music of the latter’s film ‘Robot’. Also present at the event were Oscar winner A. R. Rahman, Aishwarya Rai and director Shankar. Rajni’s praise for Rahman and his music was generous, “Rahman is God’s good child.” The film will be released as Endhiran in Tamil and Telugu.
Rajnikant called Amitabh his “inspiration and role model” before revealing that he was hesitant to accept the lead role in ‘Robot’, “After Sivaji, I didn’t want to accept this role because it was very challenging. You might have known that Kamal Hassan and Shah Rukh Khan were offered the role before me. But as the saying goes, ‘Dane dane pe likha hai khane wale ka naam’ (I was destined to the do the film)!”
Rajnikanth shared a funny anecdote about the film. While staying at his brother’s house in Bangalore, Rajni had an elderly Rajasthani visitor. While the fan enquired about the actor’s receding hairline, Rajni casually dropped a line that he was acting with Aishwarya Rai in his next film. The surprised fan wondered aloud why Aishwarya wasn’t acting with Abhishek, or even Amitabh Bachchan!
Amitabh Bachchan was equally eloquent about his Tamilian counterpart, “I value Rajni as a friend and colleague. I have sought his advice in stressful situations…He is the son of the soil…I’m happy that I met a man called Rajnikant. I thank him for his association.”
